Being odiya i have listened it from my elder that we have 12 months with 13 festival( means bara mase tehera paraba) like tomorrow is a very sweet festival for elder kids of house called as prathma asthami . In this we worship infront of God our new dress and a food called haldi patara pitha which is made of raw rice and urad dal batter n stuffing of coconut, jaggery,home made panner, little bit of crushed black pepper, little bit of ginger.
It is cook in turmeric leaves in a stemer which gives a very lovely fragnance.

We need:
2 cup urad dal or split black gram

2 cup raw rice or 2 cup rava used for idli
1 coconut grated
Home made panner (Indian cheese)as per need

Jaggery as per ur taste
1/2 inch crushed ginger
5-6 whole black pepper crushed

Turmeric leaves cut into medium size and washed properly.

Soak urad dal and raw rice in water at morning for 8 hours in a utensil. After 8 hours wash urad dal,rice and make smooth batter. If you are using rava idli powder then no need to make rice batter only soak urad dal n make it's batter now add rava powder into it and mix very well. (proportion of rava powder and urad dal will be same.) Keep it over night
Now in a bowl take the grated coconut,home made panner ( Indian Cheese), jaggery,crushed ginger, crushed black pepper and mix it well using your hand. In a steamer any type of cooking steamer give water n steam it.On the other hand take 4-5 medium size turmeric leaves n give the batter in the middle of it n stuffing above the batter fold it and keep it in steamer do the remaining batter in this way cook for 15 mins after 15 mins check it with the help of knife as we check cakes if it is cooked well then take them out n serve with dry peas curry.
