We need :
2 cups oats
1/2 cup washed and chopped beans
1/2 cup fresh green peas
Cauliflower washed and cut into small pieces
1 carrot washed and cut into small pieces
1 capsicum washed and cut into small pieces
1 small tomato washed and chopped
1 onion chopped
2 green chilli chopped ( optional)
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt as per taste
1-2 tablespoons of oil
Water as per requirement
Method
On a gas stove take a pan add oil in it. In hot oil add cumin seeds when it starts cracking add chopped green chilli, onion and fry it for few seconds on medium flame. Now add all vegetables into it except tomato and cook it in covered lid for 5 mins on low flame.
At the same time on another gas stove take a pan add oats in it and roast it on low flame for 5 mins after 5 mins add chopped tomato,water cover the lid and boil it when it starts boiling add roasted oats and stir it so that no lumps will form. Cook for 10 mins on medium flame with covered lid. After 10 mins mix it properly and off the gas stove.
Oats kichidi is ready to eat. Serve hot with lemon juice, black pepper and black salt.
