Fish Dum Biriyani





Fish dum biriyani is  a very simple,tasty and less time taking recipe.  Here is the recipe

Ingredients we need for making fish biriyani:

For Biriyani:
Boiled and strained biriyani or basamati rice
Half cooked fish
4 big onion chopped and fried
Some chopped mint leaves
Some chopped coriander leaves
2 teaspoon Safforn milk (optional)
3 drops food color (optional)
2 tablespoon of oil



For marinating fish:

5 medium pieces of fish
3 teaspoon turmeric powder
2 teaspoon cumin powder
2 teaspoon coriander powder
2 teaspoon meat masala powder
2 teaspoon biriyani powder
1/2 cup fresh thick curd
3 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1/2 small lemon juice
Some chopped coriander leaves
Some chopped mint leaves
Salt as per your taste
Oil

For biriyani rice

2 and 1/2 cup biriyani rice or basamati rice washed
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
2-3 bay leaves
2 small pieces cinnamon sticks
1 big cardamon
1 small cardamon
2 mace
5 cloves
2 star anise
2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon oil
Water

Method :

In a bowl take fish pieces and wash it properly now add turmeric powder,salt,cumin powder,coriander powder, biriyani masala,meat masala,ginger garlic paste,curd,lemon juice,oil, coriander leaves,mint leaves mix all these with your hand after that cover it and keep it for half an hour.

Now on a gas stove take a rice cooking utensil add water ,salt, whole spices,oil cover the lid and bring it to boil when water starts boiling add the washed rice and cook it till rice cook 70%. When rice is 70% cooked with the help of a strainer drain the water and keep the rice aside.

After half an hour take a biriyani cooking utensil on a gas stove and heat it when it is heated low the flame and put oil in it at the same time add the marinated fish and fried onion in it cover the lid and cook one side of fish for 7 mins after 7 Mins turn the fish slowly and cook it for another 7 mins. Take the  half cooked fish pieces without it's spices in a plate

Now add layer of  boiled rice on the cooked spices, half cooked  fish pieces,fried onion,mint leaves, coriander leaves, saffron milk,food colour in the biriyani cooking utensil, cover the lid using foil,wheat dough or wet cloth. Heat a tawa keep the biriyani pot on it for 5 mins on high flame after that 15 mins on low flame give little bit of water on tawa while cooking biriyani to avoid burning.

Fish biriyani is ready to eat. Serve hot with raita.

Note

I have used tea cups for measurement and I have used wet cloth for tightening lid of biriyani utensil.  When biriyani is cooked first take out fish on a plate then serve biriyani.
