Maha Bishuba Sankranti Or Pana Sankranti : Odia New Year





Pana Sankranti or Maha Bishuba Sankranti every year it comes on 14 April today it is 14 April it is also called as Odia New Year . In Odisha it is celebrated with lots of joy there is puja in many homes and in a small pot we fill pana and hang it on tulsi plant and  from today baisahk month starts.



Temples are full of devotees to get darshan of god before we start this holy day. In Odisha pana is a very unique drink made in every homes using bel or melon. The way of  making pana is different at different places of Odisha but it gives a nice aroma and a mouthwatering taste.





So today i am posting this unique odia drink which i learnt from my mom. Lets start with the ingredients.

For Making Pana Or Sarbat or drink

We need:


1 beal or
3 glass water
1/2 glass milk
2 banana
1/2 grated coconut
1/4 cup chenna or homemade indian cheese
1/2 cup chopped cucumber
1/4 cup chopped raw mango
1/2 cup satu or chatua
Little bit crused ginger
1/2 teaspoon crushed black pepper
Jaggery as per your taste

Method:

1. Crack the bela then take a big bowl with the help of spoon take out inner part of beal. After that add 2 glass water and with the help of your hand mash the inner part of beal in water properly.



2. When it is properly mixed with water take out its seeds from mixture by squeezing it. Finally with the help of stainer strain the juice in another bowl.

3. Now add grated coconut, chenna or homemade indian cheese,satu or chatua,mashed banana,chopped cucumber,chopped raw mango,crushed ginger,milk,jaggery and mix well as mashing it using your hand.


Finally add crushed black pepper mix it and serve the sharbat chilled or normal.



Its the recipe from odia kitchen it gives a nice aroma and it will give a mouthwatering flavour which will make you happy.

At my home my hubby n mom always prefer  cooking raw papaya with mutton they say it's very good for health n tasty too. Guguni is a famous curry in maximum homes of Odisha it's also found on the street of Odisha  as a street food. In Odisha it's way of eating is different at different places. some people love to  eat with plain dosa,idli,upma,puri,paratha, to and some people love to eat with puffed rice( in Oriya it's muri). It's taste yummy with any of these items or without these items. So here is the recipe of guguni.
